TISSUE RESPONSE TO WHITE AND GRAY MINERAL TRIOXIDE AGGREGATE (MTA) IMPLANTED IN TIBIAL BONE DEFECTS OF RATS.

Revista de Ciências Médicas - Jan 2008 v. 17 n.1

MTA is biocompatible and presents adequate mechanical properties to be implanted in bone fractures. Bone tissue response to gray and white MTA was evaluated according to the period after implantation. Methods: MTA was implanted in tibia bone defects of sixteen Wistar, adult, male, rats. Gray MTA was implanted in the left hind leg, while white MTA was implanted in the right hind leg of the rats. Control group comprised 16 animals. Tissue samples for morphological and morphometric evaluations were removed two, four, eight and 16 weeks after implantation. TPS Dig 1.38 software was used for histological analysis. Statistical analysis used ANOVA followed by Tukey Test (p<0.05).>
